Bow Buddies' workshop today was so much fun! It must have been the effect of our Halloween party last time, because at this workshop everyone seemed more relaxed and began joking around as if we had been going to school together for years. People's personalities started to shine through a little more, and it felt more natural. I'm so happy that Bow Buddies is helping kids connect with each other and building friendships between people that otherwise wouldn't know each other. As usual, today we started off by having everyone play their piece and receive feedback. Afterwards, I answered any questions, and participants had the opportunity to play a second piece if they wished. I was amazed that one of the participants had composed her own piece, and it was wonderful when she played it for us. It was also nice to hear another participant play a song in a different genre of music as his second piece. We all recognized the song, "Viva la Vida," and it was so fun to listen to!
I'm excited to announce that the participants of Bow Buddies will be collaborating together to learn a song! Hopefully we can digitally form a small group and be able to create music together. Among the suggestions for the piece we will be playing together are "Pirates of the Caribbean," "The Sleeping Beauty Waltz," and "Canon in D." Stay tuned to see our progress on one of these pieces!
