What is Bow Buddies Music?

Founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and shelter-in-place order, Bow Buddies offers middle school string musicians an opportunity to connect and grow as musicians in a virtual setting. Through workshops, musicians gain experience performing, receive feedback, and make friends within the strings community. The schedule for upcoming workshops and more information is found under the “workshops” tab of the website.

The Bow Buddies Blog has also grown to feature many interviews with esteemed professors, entrepreneurs, and influencers within the strings music community. Visit the blog to learn about the various careers in strings music, as well as tips professionals have for beginning musicians!

Our newest addition to the Bow Buddies Program offers free, individual violin, cello, and bass lessons for beginning students through Zoom, as well as some limited in-person lessons depending on availability and location. If you would like to register for lessons, please visit the lessons page.

We are excited to welcome grades K-8 to the program! If you have questions, please reach out through the “contact us” form!

Founder

Lucie is a freshman at UCSD with 8 years of experience playing violin. She has been teaching private lessons for three years. Most recently, she was an adult helper in the Livermore Amador Youth Symphony Orchestra in Summer 2023 as Violin 1. She performed in the PUSD District Musical's Pit Orchestra for the 2022 "Seussical the Musical". She played in the Livermore Amador Youth Symphony Orchestra in the summer 2021 season and completed a pre-college program with University of Pacific's Conservatory of Music in the summer of 2020. In 2019, she was accepted to the California Orchestra Directors Association's (CODA) Honors String Orchestra held at UC Santa Cruz. She participated for 3 years in San Jose State University's Summer in the City music program. She was a member of Amador Valley High School's Symphony Orchestra.

Although Lucie only started taking private violin lessons in 8th grade, she believes that anyone can achieve their goals through hard work and practice. She is excited to help build a community for middle school string musicians.

TESTIMONIALS

"My daughters, Aidyn (violin) and Addi (viola), have been taking lessons with Bow Buddies since this past summer. They love the time they spend with Lucie and her instruction has been invaluable to their development as student musicians. She is talented, patient and clearly passionate about sharing her knowledge of violin with her students.

They also love the workshops offered through Bow Buddies. Being a family with limited financial means, we are eternally grateful for the support the program has offered."
